Although it has only been open for 37 days, it is clear that Universal Studios Japan’s achievement is massive. Dynamic Attractions joins both park-goers and the attractions industry at large in saying ‘Mario is Universally Brilliant.’ Here’s why:
• True Entrance – Guests don’t wander in; we must choose to go through a tunnel which opens into a completely different, fully-themed area.
• Colourful – The bright primary colors are directly from the game’s color palette; they are recognizable and ‘fun’.
• New Tech – Cutting edge technology, such as Augmented Reality, provide experiences not available anywhere else.
• Multi-Generational – The characters are well known with the past two generations. Grandparents can introduce their grandkids to characters they played with in arcades and on Game Boys.
• Delivers Its Promise – Gamers love to play. We compete with others by bopping ‘pow’ boxes, scoring points on Mario Kart, and jumping while seeing ourselves on giant game screens.
• Rich Interactivity – Throughout the World, we do more than watch and ride; we strap on bands, slip on goggles, and eat Mario-themed food.
• Global Appeal – With over 600 million games sold in countries around the world, its cross-cultural charm is indisputable.
Since his Donkey Kong birth in 1981, Mario has appeared in over 200 video games; the Mario franchise is the best selling video game franchise of all time. With such play-filled exposure, it was time for the pudgy plumber to leap into a theme park.
Thank you, Universal Creative, for imagining, innovating, and building such a ‘Super’ world.
