Dynamic Attractions introduces ground-breaking new rides at IAE with its Flightcycle plus a trio of autonomous vehicles.
The company will officially be awarded the 2017 IAAPA First Place Brass Ring Award for ‘Best New Product Concept’ for its All-Terrain Dark Ride. The Dynamic All-Terrain Dark Ride is a trackless, indoor/outdoor dark ride vehicle that uses military grade technology.
“No dark ride vehicle has ever been able to do what this vehicle can,” says Guy Nelson, CEO of Dynamic Attractions. “This brings the thrilling, all-terrain movement and agility to an intense, theme park-style adventure.” The trackless vehicle can tackle rough terrain and can climb up and down steep banks. It can even give air-time sensations. The real-life action makes the experience feel more intense. “The motion is real, not a simulation,” says George Walker, SVP of Creative Services for Dynamic.
The company has used military-grade technologies that include a wireless positioning system. Being trackless makes the whole experience more exhilarating. “We are able to intentionally put you in seemingly precarious and thrilling situations,” says Mike Haimson, VP of Technical Development.
Guest can go anywhere they steer. “In the military world, they call this ‘Fly by Wire’,” says Haimson. However if they come close to an obstacle the system will take control.
Dynamic Attractions is also showcasing two other new vehicles. The Dynamic Motion Dark Ride features an omni-directional drive system creating vigorous motion. It can be used to create compound paths at the same time with complex motion profiles. The Dynamic Classic Dark Ride’s superpower is that it doesn’t require the usual exceedingly flat floor. It also possesses greater acceleration, speed and free roaming ability.
Flightcycle takes to the air
Dynamic are also unveiling the Dynamic Flightcycle at the Florida Expo. Instead of sitting with their backs against a normal chair, riders lean into the action, as if driving a motorbike. They are surrounded by a huge concave screen. The attraction takes the popular Dynamic Flying Theatre to the next level. It features wind, mist, scent, and media perfectly synchronized with motion, creating, as Dynamic puts it, “a thrilling family-level illusion of flight.”
“It’s like a motorcycle with wings,” says Mike Haimson, the visionary behind the design. “This position changes your perspective both physically and emotionally. The ability to perceive speed and motion are heightened. And you have a fuller perspective of the story unfolding below you. It is a dramatically more powerful, immersive sensation, ideally suited to more intense action media and theming.”
Nelson believes Flightcycle is ideal for a wide range of parks and other destinations. It can easily fit into locations because of its flexible size. It is available in sizes to fit from 12-72 guests. Its ceiling height requirements are much lower than typical Flying Theatres.
The Dynamic Flightcycle is also available as part of a complete package – Dragon Rider. This includes screen, projection, media, scenic and preshow elements. Warriors get to ride on the backs of dragons in an epic tale of two battling kingdoms. Other attraction package storylines are also available.
Dynamic Attractions have been recognized by IAAPA with Best New Product Concept͛ awards in 2015 and 2016. This is their third consecutive win.
